Making Mushroom Tea

I often get asked about my recipient for mushroom tea because it smells and tastes fantastic and people rarely have an upset stomach when they take it so I wanted to share that here with all of you. It involves both an alcohol and an aqueous (water) extraction for a more complete dosing as well as use of an acid (lemon tech) to prep the solution for rapid transference across the blood-brain barrier.

Tea for Two

Optional- drink an MAOI like a shot of passionflower tincture before you begin

6-10 g of psilocybin mushrooms ground
Simmer in 3 cups of water for 20 min with ginger root
Add a shot of hard alcohol and boil off
Remove from heat and add a teaspoon or two of chamomile, or other herbs, steep 5 min
Strain
Add a shot of lemon juice
Add honey to taste

Directions:

Grind 6-10 g of psilocybin mushrooms
Simmer in 3 cups of water for 20 min
Optionally include an inch of sliced ginger root in your simmer to settle your stomach

At 15 min add a shot of hard alcohol and boil off (alternately soak the powder in alcohol for 5 min until blue and pour off liquid, then simmer the remaining mush, either tactic will get both the water and alcohol soluble compounds into solution; for an experiment you can keep the two extractions separate and take them individually)

Remove from heat and add a teaspoon or two of chamomile, and optional teaspoons of rose or damiana for a love potion or tulsi or mint for an awakening potion, all herbs which help to settle the stomach. Steep herbs 5 min.

Strain or if you like you may include the solids from the mushrooms. They contain chitin which some people find hard on their digestive system and the great majority of active compounds are now in the solution anyway.

Add a shot of lemon juice, the acid breaks down the psilocybin into psilocin which will hit faster (20 min rather than 40 min)

Add honey to taste

To double the trip length drink an MAOI tea 30-40 min before hand (an MAO inhibitor stops the breakdown of psilocin and it continues to cross the blood brain barrier repeatedly) passionflower is a great love potion and aids with vision; yohimbe is an excellent sexual stimulant, rue is a warriors herb. A shot of passionflower tincture is quite easy to take before preparing tea.
