What to Expect and What to Bring

Come at 5 pm December 14th for ceremony to New Mission Yoga, 2415 Mission Street at 20th Street in San Francisco’s historic Mission district. Parking is on the street. Do not leave valuables in your car.

Bring a drum, bedding, and a pipe (if you have one). You may want a journal and a water bottle. Bring a towel. You may wish to bring a change of clothing, too. Do not bring items that are fragile, or incense, smudging, feathers, or small items that can get lost.

Please use unscented products for people who are allergic to scents.

There are no dietary restrictions. Come clean and fed. Ibotenic acid is a flavor enhancer and we will be having a light meal in the morning before our closing circle.

There is no dress code. Be comfortable. I sometimes wear pajamas. The space is warm and there are gym mats on the floor, so it’ll be a cozy place to stay all night. New Mission Yoga has a “no shoes” policy in the ceremony room. Also, you may wish to dress in layers should you find the room too warm.

It is not safe to drive under the influence so please come prepared to stay the night. We will be sleeping in the space and having a brief integration circle in the morning at 8 am. Many people find their sleep to be deep and restorative with powerful dreams.

MEDICINES like alcohol, Benzos, sleep aids, GABA drugs, Lyrica and other drugs for addiction stack with Amanita and can cause serious harm. Please refrain from combining these with Amanita.

CANNABIS use may prevent you from noticing some effects from Amanita. For a more full experience refrain from cannabis for two weeks ahead of ceremony.

Participants in ceremony can expect to experience hypnotic trance, dream like understanding, a radical sense of being at home in your own skin, improved boundaries, relief from pain and anxiety, and many people experience both out of body travel through time and space and hearing the voice of the forest and the ancestors. David Samas and Wulf Trachta will be providing one-on-one shamanic healing and blessings through the evening while the drumming continues. There is often dancing, stretching, shaking or rolling around. This is not always a calm experience.

If you are used to ceremony with other plant medicine please understand that amanita is nothing like any other compounds you’ve used. It does not travel in or effect the serotonin receptors but it is a combination of a cholinergic upper and a gaba agonist. The primary compounds free us from chronic nerve pain (sometimes permanently) and reverse the effects of stress in the nervous system, radically detriggering us. The most common hallucination is to feel “fine“ or “normal“ even when this is not generally how we are experiencing life. Some people do experience time loops or space warpage. This is not a traditional hallucinogen and looks very different in ceremony from any other plant medicine.
